Claiborne County Amateur
Radio Emergency Service
Supporting Claiborne County and surrounding counties.

CCARES consist of amateur radio volunteers who have joined together to provide a public service for the people of our county. We strive to provide emergency communications and services for Claiborne County when called upon. We are a new organization always looking for motivated individuals to help fill our ranks.

We work in collaboration with Union County ARESŪ as well as all other  surrounding counties. We train to help improve our skills as Amateur Radio Emergency Services teams. We greatly appreciate the support of the Union County members.

We also work in collaboration with District 5 Skywarn to be the eyes and ears of the National Weather Service when severe weather strikes.

Please check back regularly as this Website is always a work in progress.

Background
Amateur Radio operators set up and operate organized communication networks locally for governmental and emergency officials, as well as non-commercial communication for private citizens affected by the disaster. Amateur Radio operators are most likely to be active after disasters that damage regular lines of communications due to power outages and destruction of telephone, cellular and other infrastructure-dependent systems.
